Let it rest 10 minutes before scooping so the slices hold together.
How to make it
- Heat the oven to 375°F.. Grease your baking dish so nothing sticks.
- Brown the beef.. Cook the ground beef in the skillet over medium-high heat for 8–10 minutes, breaking it up, until no pink remains. Drain off the grease.
- Add the sauce.. Stir the marinara into the beef and let it simmer on low while you do the next step.
- Boil the ziti short.. Cook the pasta in salted boiling water for 2 minutes LESS than the box says. It finishes cooking in the oven, so undercooking keeps it from getting mushy. Drain.
- Mix the ricotta.. In the bowl, stir together the ricotta, egg, parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and salt.
- Layer it up.. Spread half the pasta in the dish, dollop over half the ricotta mix, spoon over half the meat sauce and sprinkle with a third of the mozzarella. Repeat, ending with the rest of the mozzarella on top.
- Bake 25–30 minutes.. It is done when the cheese is melted, bubbly and starting to brown at the edges. Rest 10 minutes before scooping.
How to serve it
