Toasted sub rolls filled with meatballs, marinara and melted mozzarella

Broil the last minute if you want the cheese extra brown and bubbly.

How to make it

  1. Heat the oven to 400°F.. Line the baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Warm the meatballs.. Put the meatballs and marinara in the saucepan over medium heat. Cover and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring now and then, until the meatballs are hot through.
  3. Toast the rolls.. Split the rolls open but not all the way through. Mix the softened butter with the garlic powder and spread inside each roll. Toast open-face on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.
  4. Fill them up.. Spoon 5 meatballs and plenty of sauce into each roll. Top with mozzarella and parmesan.
  5. Bake 8–10 minutes.. Until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Add fresh basil if you like and serve right away.

How to serve it

Serve with potato chips or a simple green salad. Napkins required.

Save the leftovers

Store meatballs and sauce separately from rolls for up to 3 days. Reassemble and bake to reheat.
